Seasonal Affected Depression (SAD). This affects 7% of the UK population every winter and there are ways to combact it. I have listed the ways in this video.

Symptoms of SAD include:
Depressed
Mood change
Craving more carbohydrates
Loss of libido
Feelings of lathargic

Tips for Beating the Winter Blues:
1. Get more light; step out into the sun whenever possible. You might be able to purchase SAD lights for this as well

2. Get involved in projects. Engage in something that you enjoy.

3. Get a massage.

4. Breath deeply. It reduces the stress levels

5. Drink coffee. It works in combating the winter blues!! ;)

6. Socialise

7. Be healthy; get some exercise, eat well and take vitamin D and some other supplements as well

8. Be postive; write down some things that you are greatful for. This is very helpful.

9. Indulge in a long hot bath

10 Add some colour to your wardrobe

11. Try a plant or a candle in your room

12. Embrace the weather; get into your favourite PJs, have some hot chocolate and watch your favourite DVDs

13. Look forward to Christmas and the New Year

14. Set yourself achievable goals

  • In the summer and spring, I turn from an depressed ugly duckling to a beautiful, happy swan lol It is kind of funny how, the different seasons have an major affect on my attitude, glow & so on but I'm surviving and learning to manage it better as time goes on. Even my neighbors notice the change every yr

During the winter, I try to get out more but I really don't like the cold. It can be very discouraging for me, personally. So, I stay in doors

Anyhow, I appreciate these tips! Thanks again : )

  • @keshawn888 Cheers for your comment. These tips definately worked for me; hope you find these helpful and it eases your SAD. :)

  • @argimag1 Thank you. :)

  • Thank you for the video! You give great advise about breathing, people really don't know this. I hear about it just second time in my whole life. Breathing from the stomach has great positive effect on the diaphragm and internal organs.

  • @basilmusik I know what you mean; I am still trying to figure it out myself. ;))

  • Thank you so much for speaking on this! Everything you mention is completely true. I often struggle with S.A.D. in the winter, go into a state of hibernation and have issues with maintaining a positive attitude, high self-esteem, proper diet, routine exercise and getting a decent amount of sleep. Though, I would say I have been doing a little better this fall/winter season than in previous years. I challenged myself to stay positive and healthy but I've been struggling with S.A.D. since 2002.

  • @LondonCityGirlMag Thank you :)) x

  • I am so impressed by this video! The tips are super! My favourite vid so far for sure!!! :) x
