BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS, read the FAQ section of the description.
This works in HeartGold, SoulSilver, Platinum, Diamond, Pearl, AND Emerald. In the 5th-gen games (Black and White), you can't find your Secret ID this way. Also, Emerald is the only 3rd-gen game where this video is relevant.
IMPORTANT: You can skip over half the video after finding the exact IVs of your shiny, by putting them into the "IVs to PID" function of RNG Reporter.

After the video was made, there's now a way to find the Secret ID with "4 to 8" Poke Radar shinies, so you don't necessarily need a 1 in 8192 chance random shiny (except in Emerald, obviously). This video by explains it:

ANSWERS to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
1: The first number in the binary version of my PID is a 0 and I can't put it in first in the calculator!?
A: Zeros at the front of a number mean nothing. E.g. 00011 = 11. However, if your final Secret ID result has less than 5 digits - eg. 4183, then add zeros to the front until it's 5 digits (eg. 04183).
2: If I trade my shiny from Game A (eg. Emerald) to Game B (eg. Platinum), can I use it to find the Secret ID for Game B?
A: No. A shiny's data is created using the Secret ID of the game where it was found, so if you traded an Emerald-obtained shiny to Platinum, you'd be able to figure out your Emerald SID, not your Platinum one.
3: Can I use a shiny event Pokemon to find the SID?
A: No. Event Pokemon are either always or never shiny. The always-shiny ones use a different PID generation, so this method doesn't work.
4: How do I use the Chain to SID feature of RNG Reporter to find the SID from at least 4 chained shinies?
A: See the above link to pokechao196's video about this.
5: I used the IV Calculator but it gave me a range of possible IVs...?
A: You'll need to get the shiny to level 100, and must record the *exact* EVs (Effort Values) it has gained. Then put its Level 100 Stats and EVs into this IV Calculator:

6: Can I use the shiny Gyarados from HeartGold/SoulSilver's Lake of Rage?
A: Not with this video's method, because it's generated like a Poke Radar Pokemon... the only way to use it would be to have a huge stash of Rare Candies, catch it then check its IVs at level 100, then reset your game and catch it again, level it to 100 and find the IVs again... repeat at least 4 times, until you get only a few possibilities in RNG Reporter's 'Chain to SID' function.
7: My Secret ID turned out to have only 4 digits (eg. 3312) - have I done something wrong?
A: No, it usually means your SID has a 0 at the front (eg. 03312) - the calculator won't display that for obvious mathematical reasons.

@SHADOWX509BP You'll know when you try to get your first RNG-abused shiny. If you follow all the steps of RNG abuse and it doesn't work, it means you haven't followed the video.

@SHADOWX509BP The video tells you what to do... please don't tell me you commented before watching it, lol.

Wait, so to find my SID on Emerald, I NEED a shiny pokemon from the game?
JM94FL 1 week ago
@JM94FL Yes. One shiny in exchange for an unlimited supply of RNG-manipulated shinies on that game is a good deal.
