A Very Late Amtrak 11 South (UP 5410) - Red Bluff, CA - Hwy. 36 Crossing

A 9+ hour late southbound Cost Starlight speeds through Red Bluff, CA crossing Highway 36. The train hit a tree south of Dunsmuir and made a rare appearance on the Shasta Route in the daylight. Usually this train comes through around 2am. This train also is carrying 2 Cal Zepher cars on the rear. If you listen closely over the wind you can here to UP detector going off on the scanner.

An early Christmas present to say the least....they don't call it the "Coast Starlate" for nothing!

maybe they had to do a re route after the train was hit.

@lawpar79 there was no re route, the Coast Starlight always travels this route and after it hit the tree it continued south

I always hear the Amtrak going down the tracks near my house at around 2:30am and then the North bound shortly after that. Or vise versa. When I don't I know I have time to find a good spot to set up. If I'm not working, that is...
