The school of sociology or philosophy known as Social Constructivism stresses the cultural and relativistic nature of (some) claims to reality. Whilst some of these claims are wildly overstated, when appied only to (the contruction of) Durheimian 'social facts' these claims may be valid. The more positivistic claims made by epistemological science for example seem resistant to the term 'constructive' although if such claims are reframed in terms of shared somatosensory systems then the reality described by science might be so called.
