Music brings out the beauty of the spoken word.

Solomon Burke needs no explanation or excuses... Gillian can sing with or without anybody... David is one of the best acoustical musicians today... Good songwriter too...

@shellacster you are not right and let me say this there are plenty out there that have soul and can play bluegrass do u think they get on the stage thinking they are better then the rest then you are an Idiot, that is not what music is about

fantastic. all three musicians perform equally well, in my opinion as a musician.

I agree that Welch and Rawlings aren't in the spotlight, they play as supporting artists in this piece. Burke's good, having only listened to this performance, but I don't know how well the artists voices mesh here.. I think it could be improved.
Check out Gillian Welch's and David Rawlings' BBC performance of their song "Look at Miss Ohio" for a performance I consider really great. Another top highlight for me is "Throw me a rope" (a.k.a "The way it will be", but the Throw me... video is gr8.

Well, he plays a Jimmy Martin line @1:31...but they're not the king and queen of bluegrass though they're damn darn good.
@shellacster: It's not a contest.

Not a contest, no winners, sharing music and a stage is grace for those who at this level.
