I agree with you. I really don't like it when narrow minded make comment about things that they aren't really well informed about. We need to look at things with a wider perspective. There are the Sri Lankan Apasara, the Indian Apsara, the Cham Apasara, and of course the Cambodian Apsara. The dance is influenced by different the local culture of those place. We can't claim that the Cambodian Apsara is the only correct way of dancing Apsara. They're all beautiful to me. P.S. I'm Cambodian

I concur; the word Apsara is of Sanskrit origin. So Indians are the only ones that have a right to claim the word Apsara. I wish Cambodians, that care to comment negatively on these types of things, would show more humility, instead of boasting about things that they're not too informed about themselves. And yes my parents were from Cambodia, but I'm not as arrogant about things like the word Apsara.

wow nice dance! are these real Cham dances or vietnamese influenced. I would think real Cham since they're fast and the moves they used looks just like the stone carvings. Ancient Champa comes to life. Amazing!

@Bnswat yeah, the indians have the right to own the words apsara but!!! the dance of art is pure cambodian and that our traditional way to dance to our king, cambodian look for a name to match our dance so the word apsara would do it.

It is good to know the origin of the word Apsara, but the most important to me is who can perform Apsara Dance better that counts. Like Chachacha is known world wide today, so what? no body cares where is the origin of the word Chachacha.... but we care to improve and fancy in our own style of dance....
