Got the new flycamone HD 720p yesterday and so today had to try it and the transmitter set on my Supercub.

The weather was against me as it was blowing rather hard and only stopped raining for a short time, but just long enough to get a quick flight in.

Only managed to look at the receiver screen for a few seconds each time as the wind was giving the plane a hard time, but it dislayed a nice clear picture 95% of the time.

Cant wait to fly it in good weather.

it would be good for FPV, but will probably need to buy the wider lens first, as the 70 degree is really too narrow for FPV (update - now found out the other lens are only for the 1080P version of the flycamone HD)

This video was taken on the default medium quality video setting, have now set camera to the high quality setting and will take another video soon.

Also timestamp can be removed from video if not required.

  • Just an update, I finally got mine and they didn't ship the screen with it saying it was out of stock so I went to the electronics store and bought a 7" LCD tv for 47$ . The tricky part was cutting the RCA plugs it came with to get that female adaptor port to use with the male receiver port, it just sucks its only SD .I have a question for you though, is that little screen a 720 hd screen?

  • @kaptnkurt1002 the screen is not hd its resolution is 960x240

  • Do you think you will ever get that dish amplifier? Is it hard to fly using that little screen? Haha sorry for all the questions, I'm a little jumpy after paying 400$ on all of it, you are the only video I can find of someone that is using the transmission kit. :/

  • @kaptnkurt1002 I dont intend to fly the plane with the flycam as I think the field of view is too narrow, but I plan to use it as a guide for lining up shots with my main stills camera and just to have fun with when flying my fast jets.

I have flown the cub by just looking at the screen and its easy to get used to the small screen, its just that its hard to judge with the view so narrow, I would not want to be flying low with that camera view but once you get a few hundred feet up its great

  • Hi I just bought that whole kit also from hobby lobby ( camera, 5.8trans, and screen.) did you notice any problems with image loss while flying? I'm really taking a big chance buying all this because I havent seen a single review or videos. Have you done anymore flying with it since this video?

  • @kaptnkurt1002 the picture got a bit fuzzy for a few seconds on some turns at the far end of the field but I could still see the view from the camera and the picture was back to 100% within a second or so. My main problem with the camera is the limited field of view. I was a bit annoyed to find the wide angle lens only fit the 1080P version of the flycam but I will stil use this camera and transmitter for my flights and I am already gettting more used to the view.

  • Also on the FLYCAM website it says that the 170 degree lens would work with the 1080 and 720, that was in oct. Who knows if they changed their mind. :)

  • I have flown the flycamone HD a number of times since this video and have found the reception of the video to be clear around 95% of the time, I have not flown too far away as I stayed within LOS but I guess I was around 200 yards away as the cub was hard to see and I was still getting a great picture, I still need to find a better place to put the transmitter as currently it was just fixed to the camera with rubberbands and the aerial was sticking out sideways

  • very nice m8.you got some hight with the little cub

  • @metoritis Yes the flycamone HD can take photos, resolution is 3200x2400. Photos can be taken at 3, 5, 10, 30, 60 second intervals.
