Formed by keyboards player Thomas Hébert (aka Roboto), drummer and DJ Julien Harbec (aka Kilojules) and singer and pianist Fanny Grosjean (aka Fanny Bloom), La patère rose is a colorful electro-pop band. Members of La patère rose met in 2003 in Cegep in Sherbrooke but started playing together two years later when Fanny Grosjean was in the last two national finalists for Cegep en spectacle and Julien and Thomas just formed Mister Valaire. In 2008 they decided to form a band together and create a unique sound for Quebecs music contest Francouvertes. They won for their distinct sound inspired by Camille, Émilie Simon, Lily Allen, The Do, Martha Wainwright and Jacques Brel. They also won the Prix de la chanson Socan for their song Backyard souvenir and the public prize. The trio won Radio-Canada Rising Star Prize at Rideau for their musics audacity and quality. Their self-titled album was released in March 2009 on Grosse Boîte (Tricot machine, Coeur de pirate, Jean Leloup). The band participated in renowned music fest like FrancoFolies of Montreal, Osheaga and FrancoFolies of Spa in Belgium and toured across Quebec. The band was nominated for Alternatif album of the year and Breakthrough Artist of the year at GAMIQ and ADISQ in 2009.
