  • Thanks all for your comments. The Constellation Program and Ares Projects is still active, and the team is hard at work developing exploration technologies and hardware. It's the President's 2011 budget that cancels Ares.

  • @AresTV So although the programme has been cancelled the money is still being used to fund the research and development into the Constellation programme. I suppose your just making the most of every last penny in the budget allocated to a machine that won't be flying to the Moon, now that the Orion spacecraft is to become a lifeboat for the ISS. What are NASA's plans for the future in manned space flight. It might have money to make new tech but will it ever be used in one way or another?

  • I so loved these updates ! Ares 1-X launched !! I´m at a lost as to why the Constellation is gone ! It worked !! I was so looking forward to seeing the flight test of the Ares V in 2018 !!

  • I always look forward to these reports. They're always so well done.

    Thanks for posting!

Go NASA, the best government program ever!

  • @AresTV Heres to hoping Congress says No and goes Bi partisan for it.

  • No need to finish Ares I as the EELVs can do it's job for a lot less. But the work done so far needs to be redirected to an HLV such as Shuttle-C or Direct.

This would not be much more expensive then shutting down the program and killing all contracts.

I think the Jupiter 246 could be flying by 2014 if the decision is made now.

This vehicle has two RSRMs unchanged from STS, four SSMEs and 6 RL-10s.

  • cool video but I was wondering if you can make a playlist on the ares updates.

  • Shame about the programme's cancellation. Now all that NASA can do is continue making the most of the last penny in the budget for the fiscal year 2010.

  • Cancelled or not, I still think it should be completed up to the point where it can carry people and then mothballed or shelved. could be a handy asset..

  • @AresTV I really hope the the Constellation program won't be canceled!

  • Its important to show progress, because constellations competition has been busy spreading the rumor that NASA has been sitting on its laurels all these years.

The Obama vision is about what states and what companies get money. Exploration has very little to do with it.
