I think it looks better when u make it a bit darker than that. I think it looks more like lava when it's darker, but i dunno does it look more like a sun that way.

There is a much cleaner more effective way of mapping stuff onto spheres, make a material, create a image texture and select your map, then go back to the material tab and scroll write across and go to map input, then select where is has the options flat, cube, sphere and tube and choose sphere, the you image will be wrapped around sphere.
It is load better and much quicker. :)

when i split the screne and follow your directions on the new side the yellow lines dont show up?
How do you add glare? I'm trying to make a solar eclipse.
