TRIP performs a section of their environmentally centered work from 2007 "Poisoning the Well" titled "Valdez Tinikling". This dance, which features a stick dance inspired by the traditional Filipino Tinikling dance, with its tight spacing and sense of being trapped, was meant to symbolize the plight of animals living with less and less habitat- and space full of man made hazards. The dance features Monica Favand Campagna, Denesa Chan, Andriana Mitchell, Tomas Tamayo & Taryn Wayne. The work was choreographed by Monica Favand Campagna in collaboration with the dancers and features Denesa Chan (soloist) with Andriana Mitchell, Taryn Wayne, Tomas Tamayo, Monica Campagna, and musicians Charlie Campagna & Andrew Tabb. Hector Torres (cajon) accompanies live. Performance taped April, 2007 at Unknown Theater in Los Angeles by Carol Gehring. Costumes by Monica Campagna, video by Carol Gehring.

do you even realize how much abdominal strength she must have to perform this?
and how the stick people have to know what to do. it hurts like HELL when the bamboo sticks hits your ankles.

it is probably too esoteric for anyone who does not study dance/theater. but it is no joke. it is very difficult to do this type of dance well.
