If it was not for the U.S. Navy and others you would be speaking german.

the power of the US NAVY can not simply be measured in the quality or quantity of its ships. one great story of US NAVY supremacy is the industrial power of its ports. (see battle of midway) in 1942 the aircraft carrier "Yorktown" was in port at pearl harbor requiring several months of repairs, but because the flight deck was still operational they completed enough repairs to make the ship combat ready in only 72 hours. GO NAVY (beat ARMY .... in football)

Man the US navy is by far the best in the world just by numbers alone no other country stands a chance good thing cause am American
-
Yeah, I see your point, the USN is the most powerful now and the Spanish Armada was never that powerful, we defeated them with a smaller, less organised Navy.
Yeah fact it is.
-
@TowerHamletsNeil than why did a lot of y'alls battleships, aircraft carrier, and escort ships been destroyed and asked the US for more ships to help protect its country from the Germans?
-
@TheCharlie359 hey Im an American and I respect your branch as I respect my branch. I hope nothing happens to both of our branches. They'll always help together and forget bout the Revolutionary War.
The US Navy is obviously the most powerful these days, but in terms if human history, the difference between the Royal Navy and its nearest competitors back in the days of the British Empire was far greater than the difference between the USN and its nearest competitors today. The world was literally Britain's bitch. The tiny island made the world its plaything thanks to its navy, and there was nothing anybody could do about it for a very long time.

@ptpt1 You are right, but I think that's a somewhat dubious distinction that I wouldn't necessarily be proud of. The strategic goal of the U.S. Navy today is far more positive, as it isn't trying to impose the will of an anti-democratic, imperialistic regime on the rest of the world, which is what the Royal Navy was effectively doing in its heyday. I love Great Britain, so please don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to bash them at all, but history is what it is, whether we like it or not.

You can't call it the "most powerful navy the world has even seen" the Royal Navy was the most powerful... it's relative... yes it is the most powerful navy now but as I have just said it's relative to the time/era, 1760-1950 the Royal Navy was the most powerful... Don't get me wrong the US and the USN is good and I respect the fact that you are now the most powerful, it just seems a little arrogant to call it the most powerful the world has even seen.

@MrXray2011 I know it sounds like arrogance, but that is reality. Yes, the Royal Navy was the most powerful in the world in its time, and so was the Spanish Armada. However, in terms of force projection abilities, technological capabilities, and raw firepower, the U.S. Navy is the most powerful in human history. Other navies had those qualities too, but not at the same level. I apologize if this sounds like bragging, but that is absolutely not my intention. I'm just stating facts.
