After Climategate, Pachaurigate and Glaciergate: Amazongate1

January 26th, 2010
AGW theory is toast. Sos Dr Rajendra Pachauri. Sos the Stern Review. Sos the credibility of the IPCC. But if you think Im cheered by this youre very much mistaken. Im trying to write a Climategate book but the way things are going by the time Im finished there wont be anything left to say: the battle will already have been won and the only people left who still believe in Man Made Global Warming will be the eco-loon equivalents of those wartime Japanese soldiers left abandoned and forgotten on remote Pacific atolls.

Heres the latest development, courtesy of Dr Richard North and its a cracker. It seems that, not content with having lied to us about shrinking glaciers, increasing hurricanes, and rising sea levels, the IPCCs latest assessment report also told us a complete load of porkies about the danger posed by climate change to the Amazon rainforest.

This is to be found in Chapter 13 of the Working Group II report, the same part of the IPCC fourth assessment report in which the Glaciergate claims are made. There, is the startling claim that:

At first sight, the reference looks kosher enough but, following it through, one sees:

This, then appears to be another WWF report, carried out in conjunction with the IUCN The International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The link given is no longer active, but the report is on the IUCN website here. Furthermore, the IUCN along with WWF is another advocacy group and the report is not peer-reviewed. According to IPCC rules, it should not have been used as a primary source.

  • Al Gore = FAIL

  • Carbon tax reminds me of the window tax in the 17 - 18th century England. That's why many older buildings have bricked in window casements. They were indirectly taxing daylight but now they are trying to indirectly tax air. Either way, it's daylight robbery.

  • Bill O'Reilly has been instructed by Ruppert Murdock, whose boss is Saudi Arabia, that whatever you do, stay away from obama being a homosexual, illegal muslim. Everything else you do is OK! Go to Aaron Klein, Phil Berg, and James Manning for more info. Also: Her Name is Ms Ann.

  • True! But it's very limited. If you want to see how acidic water can be from CO2, leave some sparkling water until it goes flat.. That is the limit.

  • @spudpeel haha! salt and vinegar chips anyone?

  • Alex is not a chemist/scientist., hence the mixup between carbolic & carbonic acid.

Water does get a little more acidic from absorbing CO2 from the air. That's why the pH of a class of water just sitting out will drop from 7 (neutral) to about 5 (slightly acidic)

  • you know you know you know you know.......

  • Lord Moncton, is that you ?

  • Did alex just say that the oceans are carbolic acid? I hope he meant carbonic, but even so he's wrong. Its full of salt - anything but acidic. That's why the acidification thing won't work.

  • @mgntstr PPK resurrection.

  • The main problem is the gullibility of the public. Ignorance of scientific facts and principles. Poor historical knowledge and perspective. Until this is remedied people will be fooled over and over again.
