The 12th ASEAN plus China Summit was held to follow up on the progress of China's initiatives to promote infrastructure development in ASEAN, including the establishment of the USD10-billion China-ASEAN Fund on Investment Cooperation and the USD15-billion Commercial Credit which China pledged to contribute.
Use of the funds will help boost trade, investment and people-to-people contacts between ASEAN and China especially after the full implementation of the ASEAN-China Free trade Agreement in January next year.
Enhancing connectivity between both sides was also the main focus of the meeting.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Establishing the ASEAN China Centre, MoU on Strengthening Cooperation in the Field of Standards, Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment, and MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property were signed during this Summit and related ministerial meetings.
Senior Official Meeting (SOM) Leader and Permanent Secretary Enrique Manalo attended the meeting.
