I missed them at City Island in Daytona Beach, FL. I remember well the first few lines in the newspaper..."the sweet strains of "South City Midnight Lady" wafted over the Halifax..." I'm still regretting that I missed it...

Can there possibly be two men in rock who have conducted themselves over the years with more ''class'' than Patrick Simmons and Tom Johnston? What a joy to watch these gentlemen at work.No ego,no agenda other than creating great music.Bravo

The entire song is a joy to the ears, but the build up at the very end takes it to another level.

I am a huge Doobie Brothers fan and this song is one of my all time favorites. Granted, the rocking songs are great and got the lion's share of air play (as well as the Michael Mac Donald era songs) but the Patrick Simmon's songs were gems. As was stated by others this was the true Doobie Brothers to me with Patrick and Tom on lead vocals.
