Part of an interview with Jahnava Nitai Das in Orissa for an Indian television channel, which was simultaneously recorded by a devotee on a digital camera. Topic of the interview is Puri Jagannatha temple's policy barring foreigners from entering to worship the Lord. For more information on the Bhaktivedanta Ashram, please visit:

  • ohh god you are true hindu man, hatts offfff

  • Some (not all) temple pundits can be nasty bastards at times. They will take away your rupee but won't allow you access to the temple to worship the Blessed Lord. It's all about the money - what can a poor person offer but their devotional service and love of heart? Lord Yama coming after them at moment of death! HARIBOL!

  • dear foriegner, please read Manu Smruthi as you read Gita, go to indian villages, how dalits are living, it seems you real ignorent, don't just do meditation and yoga, try to live like a Dalit, you will come to know the suffering, after coming here you are also talking like as a Bramhins who are trying to save their religion, "it is not part of our religion" read those books properly you will come to know about the cunning ideology, and double standards

  • As an Odiya , I apologies all the foreigners who r not allowed to enter the temple .

This is disgusting. I am ashamed of being part of such society.

  • @BigBoho That's because he lives in India. He has gained the accent.

  • While it is true that only Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs from India or of Indian origin are allowed in the Puri Jagannath temple, there is no discrimination based on caste. Hopefully with time, all discrimination will end. Anyone who wishes to visit the temple should be allowed to do so.

  • jai sri rama i agree with this . the may have been created many centuries ago to safeguard temple from muslim invaders. but now i feel it can open its gates to all , particularly the so salled untouchables. salutations to sri jndas jai hind

  • His accent sounds deliberately Indian.

  • It is indeed frustrating to know such discrimination in the temples. Is this because of security reasons? They must take proper measures to secure the place and allow all. I completely agree with JN Das.

  • sanathana dharma is pure wisdom that often gets twisted by collective intellectual ego, the poison of organizations and religious ignorance. it is sad. hopefully the tapas grace will burn away this ignorance soon. victory to the oneness of our ancient inner fire!
