If Detroit gets another country station, then something is fucked up. This is DETROIT, not NASHVILLE !! Detroit, as of right now (end of November-beginning of December, 2007), has 3 country stations! 99.5, 102.9, and 106.7! (106.7 was another kickass station that was given the ax and ripped off the air, too, which was also bullshit!) So I agree, if they go back to Top 40 or Alternative, then I think they will get a larger audience than they currently have with this "Doug" shit. Just my 2 cents.

modern rap sucks ass! So, we should make some protest songs that sample funky chiptunes from sonic 3, how 'bout that?

I miss DRQ from when it returned to the Detroit music scene in August '96. It returned strictly as a DANCE station, and it was awesome!

hahahahaha....the fashion from then.....
i just commented about this vid in the 955 vid

Actually WDRQ went lite on April 1st , 1985 before that it was direct competition against WJLB and WGPR during the early 80s . R&B was all over Detroit radio at the time .

I remember WDRQ back in the '70s. It played all the pop songs back then.
I miss DRQ from 1996 when it was a DANCE station. Why doesn't Detroit have any true DANCE stations like DRQ was back in '96?

Because these days everything is about rap :(

One station that *I* liked back then was 96.3, whos call back then was WHYT. They played a lot of neat hits that you don't hear anymore: a lot of older rap and dance-related hits. Detroit could use another station such as what 96.3 played back then as well.

I heard that WDRQ-HD2 plays what WDRQ USED to play. I'm not entirely sure because I dont have an HD radio and they don't have an online stream.

@gaychristian79 - They're all on HD now. Channel 955's HD2 is dance as Bomb Squad Radio (it's a Clear Channel national feed) and Pride Radio (Clear Channel's LGBT station which plays mostly dance) is on the HD2 of 106.7.
Speaking of 106.7, what does everyone who's posting here think of the "Beat" format? When they first started they sounded a lot like the old DRQ, now they're basically a 955 clone with an older song or two each hour. And their ratings are in the crapper.

I agree I liked 106.7 when they first changed to the beat but now its just crap. Just recently I took them off my presets in my car.
