  • You can get the fine bronze wool at acehardware. Should be with the paint and sandpaper. If they dont stock it they should be able to order it. I dont know what to tell you about the lye. Should be at lowes with the drain cleaning chemicals. I can send you the link where I got my KOH if you want. Let me know if I can help.

  • Thanks man but I was using lye , and I have some SS wool on order. It just seams their is alot of thing the my local store do not carry, I live near Pittsburgh, its a big area, I called all the lowes with in 30 miles, big list , and none carry reobic, wierd. It just sucks to wait a weak or more just for something as simple like as lye. Thanks pat I enjoy all your work.

  • the problem with steel wool is that iron burns when oxygen is added to it, if you put a steel wool pad on a string and set fire to it then swing it around it will glow and throw sparks because your adding oxygen to it by swinging it around

  • Yeah that the point of blowin the air , your fuel getts the metal to liquid hot and the air just puff's it out the way, it cuts the amount of fuel you need to cut metal, the hho flame has the heat just nothing to push the metal out of the way. And as for you winging it, you seam to know more then most.

  • I have not tried that one ... I have tried mixing a variety of inert gasses, CO2, nitrogen and argon ... some interesting effects from the mixed gasses but I do not know enough about welding to be able to quantify or determine utility ... I would be concerned about using anything with high velocity for fear of spalttering molten material somewhere unplanned ... but again, my knowleged of welding/cutting is limited ... I am winging it, learning as I go ...

  • Have you tried to blow some fresh air into the cut just like you would with an acly/oxy torch.

  • Just my little torch makes a pop can glow so white it gave me a tiny touch of welder flash after like 15 minutes of playing.

  • but, along the way you will have learn how to manage fairly large volumes of gas without blowing yourself to kingdom come ... so go slowly and work to perfect your delivery and safety devices ... it stops being fun when you have to dodge pieces of your bubbler flying at you at high velocity ...

  • yes ... as you get more experience with the hydroxy torch, you will become addicted ... you will want more and more ... once you get one of these things up to about 5-6 lpm of flow through an orifice about .035, you will find that the thing can cut through 1/4 steel plate like hot knife through butter ... can cut through tungsten ... this is a valuable commercial application for our devices that is practical now ...

  • I know I was not even going to try it but my torch would have been sitting there waiting for the mail, I have some stainless steel wool on the way. Did you see that tiny flame.
