Roxanne Shanté: "Roxanne's Revenge" (street version mash-up)

Many in New York were disappointed when they first watched the video of this 1984 hip-hop classic by everyone's favorite future PhD psychologist (now believed to be a hoax)--usually broadcast on "Video Music Box"--because the audio wasn't the version they had heard on the radio. Instead, it was the inferior rerecorded version that was on the flip side of the 12-inch single because of the lawsuit that followed the original's release, one of the greatest dis records of all time. This mash-up offers a tantalizing possibility of what could have been.
