On this edition of "Will Rides The River Bed -- Again!" this time I'm joined by my friend Andrew and togetherwe did something that I think is pretty unique in the annals of Los Angeles cycling, we bridged the long (roughly 8-mile, as the water flows) gap from the southern end of the Los Angeles River Bikeway in Elysian Valley to where it begins again in Maywood, by riding entirely in the river bed between the two points.

Entire 22-mile-route: http://tinyurl.com/43ojlkq

@wildbell: awesome ride today, from Vernon Blue Line station, via Vernon city streets to Atlantic and all the way down the river to Long Beach. So much to see, you can tell how important the rivers were to the ecosystem of the LA Basin. And, also loved the seeing the Mexican equestrian folks out in Paramount, working and riding their horses. Loaded the bike on the Blue Line for the ride back to DTLA. Not quite ready to do a round trip. Yet.

@wildbell: you are right about perpetuating the positives, I was just thinking of a ride I did recently along 6th Street to the bridge, and there was so much human waste I could smell it as I passed by at 20 mph, and I'm sure it all ends up in the river. Sad, really. But, getting ready now to take the LA River bike path from Atlantic down to Long Beach, never did that ride before. Keep riding!

This is an awesome video, and you guys are gutsy and intrepid cyclist but I would not want that 'water' to touch any part of my body.
