This is a newsreel report on the Fort Lauderdale world premiere of "Where The Boys Are." The film debuted at Radio City Music Hall in New York on December 31, 1960. I'm uncertain when this premiere was held, but I believe it was shortly thereafter. Or perhaps I'm wrong and the premiere was held in Florida first, followed by New York. If anyone can help me with the facts, please write me a note. I wasn't able to find anything definitive online. Thanks!

  • I guess everyone but Connie made it to the premiere.....

  • @reichardtaj Someone told me that Connie didn't go to her own premieres. She is widely known for not liking how she looked and acted on screen. It's too bad. She was adorable in her movies, I think.

  • I was 17 & in high school when this movie premiered. I thought it was 1959...maybe it was filmed in '59 ...It was abig deal when it opened...Ft. Lauderdale was swamped with college students..I like to see the crowd shots & observe all the cool classic cars back then.....Love Deloris Hart & Paula Prentis they were so cool !

  • @ftjax Hi! And thanks for watching and writing! The movie was filmed in 1960 and made its premiere in December 1960 - both in Florida and at Radio City Music Hall. The New York premiere was on January 1, 1961.

  • Does anyone know of any pictures or more videos of this event, I was there and went to the premier, it was great.

  • @quinnda1942 HI there! How wonderful that you were at the premiere! What a piece of history! I don't know of pictures or video from the event, but I'm certain there must be a lot out there......

  • @AConnieChannel she didnt go to her premiers

  • @AConnieChannel Agree 100% on Looking For Love!

Her singing and dancing alone was well worth the price of admission....as she performed "Let`s Have A Party", "Looking For Love", When The Clock Strikes Midnight", "My Happiest Moment", etc.

Plus, her comedic skills were very impressive.

Follow The Boys {as Connie likes to say} was the worst naval disaster since Pearl Harbor!

  • @laggie24 Hi, Aggie! Lucky you! I've never been to Fort Lauderdale. I have been to Miami a few times, though. Glad you like the clip! Your friend in Texas, Ken

  • @MrYellowlabs Oh, yes, I've heard her critique of her acting, I also believe she is too hard on herself. I think she did a wonderful job in "Looking for Love." It was a solid, sweet romantic comedy written just for her. She was also very good in "Where The Boys Are." I read reviews of that movie and she got a nice "nod." "Follow The Boys" isn't very good, really, but it's fun to watch for Connie's scenes. The last film is really bad and could have been so much better - no fault of hers.
