Lovely Centaurus mate.
-
Sure brings back memories of the good old DARRT days...
Greetings from Greece to the 'man' and his 'merry men'.
-
HELMUT WICK:-?
-
Definately a Fury engine- the firefly had an inline v-12 RR Griffon engine, which this definately is not.
-
hello, it seems to be a sleeving valves engine. There is not a lot of plane with that (bristol, continental..)
-
if that engine is from a sea fury it's a bristol centaurus; 18 cylinder sleeve valve. 53.6 litres and around 2500bhp.

Has anyone tried fi9nding the serial numbers on the enginge to trace its history via the RAF or engine manu. Would be intresting to see if it saw any action or previous flyers still around

Thank you for your comment.
I was at the time a keen aviation enthusiast, but have not been involved with the group since.
They would have done all the research on the engine. I remember seeing a photo of the aircraft on the deck of the aircraft carrier in Torbay after the landing before they put it over the side. The bent props matched up.
Checked out your channel its brilliant have left comment. Have to go now Danger UXB'S on. WOW!
