I setup to get some SSTV pictures from the International Space Station. No SSTV heard, but did get to hear an Astronaut.

  • what apps are those besides google earth for us to download?

  • @razorseal The apps are Google Earth and Ham Radio Deluxe, also known as HRD.

  • I wish Richard would go back up there.

  • @dubhslaine2 I agree, that would be awesome!

  • Don't you have to tune for the doppler shift?

  • Actually, take a look at the ISS School Question and Answer Session video. Around 1:50, I have to change freq slightly to keep the audio

  • Yes, you do have to compensate for Doppler shift. 5 kc up or so until the bird moves downrange, then about 5 kc down.

jcbyrns, you'll have better luck with a beam as opposed to an omni directional antenna. I used a co phased set of arrow antennas for Mir years ago and got some beautiful pics off their packet server. Also double check frequencies used and traffic schedules. Many times these guys are talking to elementary schools. A real kick for the kids.

  • Dude, all I can say is, damn. Really. That is cool. I'm working on it, but man, I really admire your setup. I love the shot of the UP of Michegan, that is truely awesome.

Good luck for it all. All I can say is you can't be an idiot and set this up. For that, I thank you for sharing this with us!!

  • can u give me the links of softwares u are usin

  • oh ok cool thanks :)

  • Well, I have been able to do this with a 5/8 wave mobile mag mount on a pizza pan. So, my guess is that it would probably work. You won't get a great signal, but you will get something.
