Pediatrician Leo Ho worked in the intensive care unit of the MSF-run Gondama Hospital in the Bo region of Sierra Leone in 2007. During his assignment, Dr. Ho was continually treating the most severe malaria cases: children brought to the hospital who had already fallen into a coma; those who were severely malnourished; or also suffering from tuberculosis or HIV/AIDS. "We were just trying to keep them alive," says Dr. Ho.

  • I'm so thankful that people like you exist. To be a stabilizing force in a chaotic world is the highest calling a human can have. I'm a nursing student and I hope that one day I'll be able to summon the courage to work with MSF.

As a member of the human race, I thank you for what you do.

  • WHO has made appeal to withdraw artemisinin monotherapies as innefective. What is now considered the most effective treatment, assuming that non-counterfiet drugs can be obtained?I need to know this info.My family in Nigeria is affected on a regular basis.

  • When I was in SL everyone I met either currently had, had just had, or had a family member with Malaria. They are so used to suffering, they just don't go for help. Dieing is a part of their life. It is extremely sad. And they are BEAUTIFUL people.
