Here is a video clip of KXTV 10's Five o'clock news coverage of the Sacramento Railfair 91'.

"Coming to historic Old Sacramento, California...May 3-12, 1991...The power...the majesty...the spectacle...and the pageantry of one of the world's greatest collections of operating steam locomotives, railroad equipment and exhibits from across America and as far away as Great Britain...together in one place...at one time...Come to Old Sacramento and see... * The world's LARGEST operating steam locomotive -- UP No. 3985 * The MOST FAMOUS steam locomotive in America -- Daylight, SP No. 4449 * An operating replica of the nation's OLDEST steam locomotive -- John Bull * British locomotives NEVER BEFORE SEEN in this country -- Locomotion, Duke of Gloucester, and GN No. 1247... * and dozens more...

Railfair '91 will have something for everyone...Older folks will be fascinated with the nostalgia...and everyone will be intrigued by the sheer size and majesty of a form of transportation many have yet to experience...Children of all ages will marvel at the toy and model trains, and the live steam locomotives...There will be an extensive exhibit of railroad photography and art...and the Railroad Musical Revue will capture the hearts of fair goers as locomotives roll across the stage in a musical salute to railroading... Railfair '91 will commemorate the Museum's 10th anniversary with a grand spectacle emphasizing the history and diversity of the railroad industry. It is destined to be remembered as the great railroad event of the second half of the 20th Century"

  • I remember watching something like this about railfair 91 and thinking how I want to go to the next one. little did I know that they already had the last railfair in 99. :( They were also going to have a huge railfair in my town in baltimore! I was so excited! It crushed me when It was cannceled due to the rufe coallapsing. I wish they had one again with like the 611 and 3985 and 844 and 4466 and 4449 and 700 and 2472 and all of them! that will never happen again!

  • Something similar might happen when the Museum of Railroad Technology opens in Sacramento.

It will be located in what use to be the old Southern Pacific rail yards and will be part of the CSRM.

Expect a big party for that one. :D

  • @gottaloveaz In 1998.

  • Sad but true KXTV as CBS dropped Guiding Light from the 2 pm timeslot.

  • I think dick cable looks like richard bull ( nels oleson).

  • KXTV became ABC on 3/6/95 When did Dick Cable Go ?

  • CBS.I think Dick Cable looks like Nels from Little House.

  • Really nice!

  • I was at railfair 1999 in Sacramento, California and also at Rail fest 2009 in Owosso, Michigan. I used to go to the California state RR museum in Sacramento (where this vid was filmed) all the time when I lived in California.

  • Was this what inspired Anchorman?!

  • 6:56 The train was from Wyoming.

  • @HaloCE14

Of course! They'd never STOP the tradition. Its just a question of when. I don't know that. When ever the new parts of the museum( Sacramento locomotive works) are finished, then they'll raise funds for the next Railfair.
