The facts and theories surrounding some of the world's ancient mysteries. Stonehenge is a circle of giant stones in England - but how did they get there.
@sonofherne By that argument I could say that the Nazi's were not evil people as they actually thought Jews were an abomination and that he disabled were weak and so needed to be exterminated QED
@Colton8646 So, Christians and Muslims didn't kill in the name of religion, is that what you are saying. I think human sacrifice is unpaletable to us these days for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean those that did do it were evil people. They just were doing what they believed. When you don't understand how the world works, like gravity, disease, etc our ancestors thought it was because the gods were angry, or devils were possessing them. Sacrifice was as good a way as any.
@Colton8646 No, it isn't. Little high ground. Obviously you haven't noticed my username. Nothing is wrong with pagans. It's you that seem to have a problem. I just wondered what prompted you to bring in Heinrich Himmler to a Stonehenge debate.
@sonofherne Yes you are correct sir, definately wrong era considering the celts didnt arrive until 600BC but it is believed that these people had a celtic like culture. as for what they are called no they weren't called celts they were called keltoi named this by the greeks. There were actually many names for them the romans called them celtus or celti but yes in 1707 they were named the celts. Anyway its just a name for the native people of europe the celts wern't a people it was a culture.
@sonofherne Well Wiltshire is a good a place as any for astronomy . And no not everyone was Pagan so people were atheists, What is wrong with Pagans? well the Aztec's, Mayans and Incas were all Pagan and all sacrificed people and animals. And the SS had Pagan influences and killed 12 million people.
@Colton8646 What sort of astronomical purpose, quantify please, if you can. Well, I don't consider myself pagan, and Himmler was a pagan as was everyone in the world before Jesus Christ. What's wrong with that. What's your point?
@apentecostalrevival I like how you discount all other evidence, like ancient burials in and around it, ritual depositions, totemic carvings and solar alignments that are all documented and written about. Of course, moving around "rocks" must be purely because they were bored right? They lived hard lives, living to the ripe old age of about 30 and a lot of their lives were given to just eating and surviving. Stands to reason they would waste their time hauling 40ton stones!
@ExNinjadude Hogwash. England is just as celtic. In parts of England they were still speaking a celtic language up until the 1100AD. It's a misnomer to think it's limited to Scotland, Ireland and Wales. You realise a lot of lowland celts have saxon/viking dna, more mixed than in England. If I have to have another conversation about poor, deposed celts I'll cry. This stuff was discredited years ago and was the bi-product of colonialism.
@noodles1916 What's the celts got to do with Stonehenge? Wrong era, and what is a celt really? The term wasn't used until the 1700's. Romans didn't call them celts, and neither did they.
