THIS IS FOR HP battery type of printers only. Even with a battery, some printers might not work. If this doesn't work you may try disconnecting all the connectors on the circuit board for an hour or look for a software reset method. Even though I collect lots of HP printers as a hobby, I'm clueless about most of them.

This video is how to reset the ink on your HP printer. There's no need to dissemble the printer to get to the battery. A long pair of tweezers to pull the CMOS battery out from its casing for a short time will work just fine. Some printers may not keep time by using the battery alone. • This may work on some models, but on the hp officejet 4215xi, the battery is soldered in. This may apply to other models as well. Beware before taking the time to disassemble.

  • Soldered in battery may be even easier. You just short the battery with a paper clip for no more than a few seconds.

  • The only problem with HP printers is the ludicrous price of the cartridges!

  • For the 3200 series printer try this....

Press 4 buttons at the same time... (With your right hand)

    Color, Black, Reset, and OK.

Now press the "OFF" button wait for the printer to shut off and then turn it back "ON"

When you print, the printer will put the expired cartridge message. Press ">" ignore the warning, and Press "OK"

Go ahead and print all you want....

You will have to start the process over when you unplug power from your printer.....

  • @inutopia67 FYI: just opened my HP C4280 no such battery on that side there. Suffering from message "“Incompatible print cartridges” and can only reset for 1 printer job using the menu of the printer as explained by ProfessorInk2006 "HP Print Cartridge(s) Missing or Not Detected Fix"

  • Falling asleep... so boring. Don't wait.. discharge the system by trying to turn it on while unplugged or short the battery terminals with something conductive.

  • It does not work with HP deskjet 1000 & HP 61 Cartridge. Can someone please help???

  • hey does anyone knows how to bypass HP photosmart B110a series cartridge 364 expiration dates? does battery removing solves this problem for this kind of printer to?PLEASE HELP!! be.aija@inbox.lv

  • @250Trojan

All major brands have a insane markup on ink prices, This is where the make the majority of there money. In alot of cases they sell the printers at a loss (below production / shipping costs), and rely on the ink sells to make up for it.

  • Two words: Spelling Checker

  • My printer gave an "out of ink" error and refused to print. I searched for a solution and found this video. Just as I read the bit about disconnecting the battery the printer sprang into action and printed my page. Number 5 is alive!!
