Borderlands - Soloing Crawmerax The (Not So) Invincible

Just showing you how I solo Crawmerax, and how you can too.

Before you ask, yes the Aries is a modded weapon, a friend of mine duped it for me. My found Aries (see my inventory) isn't, but I'm showing you with the modded one to make the vid go by faster.

And the 100 Backpack slots is due to a removed glitch in the game, only worked in version 1.0 and is no longer possible.

NO MODS WERE EVER USED ON THIS CHARACTER.

Crawmerax is best fought in a full game of 4 players because the drop rates are 4x higher. However, if you dont have any friends online, or you're simply playing by yourself, or you're tired of those dicks joining, stealing all the loot and leaving, then heres a way you can fight Crawmerax by yourself.

All you'll need is:

* A level 61 Character
* A High Level Shock, Corrosion, and Incindiary Weapon
(I use Aries, Defiler and Volcano)
* Transfusion Grenades and/or life heal/steal abilities (Aries lifesteals)
* 2,000 Capacity sheild or better

Theres a particular spot that protects you both from Crawmerax, and his worms, and all their ranged attacks. Most people would hide in the spot by the rock wall and glitch Craw out, but this doesnt always protect you from his worms, or craw's ranged attack (If he uses it).

From this particular spot you can crouch underneath the overhanging rock and be completely protected from ranged projectiles. Also since you're a few elevations down you're completely protected from any melee attacks. The only thing you have to worry about is any worms that get close enough to ranged attack, or timing craws acid bomb attacks.

When you first start, take out the initial worms first:
Use Shock on the regular Worms
Use Corrosion on the Armored Worms
Use Incindiary on the Green Worms

Once the intial worms are dead, any other worms wont target you unless promted from seeing you, or getting splashed. Since you're a few elevations down the only time they'll see you is if you poke your head up, so try to limit your head poking ups to a minimal, or prepare to fight some worms.

If you do get downed, then the worm that downed you is most likely at point blank range, so just whip out your element gun and give it a few point blank shots to the face and get back up.

Slowly pick away at Crawmerax's critical points, hiding under the rock to avoid his ranged attacks and keeping the wormies at bay, eventually you'll take him out and will be able to reap the rewards.

This technique might take you awhile to perfect, but once you do you'll be Soloing Craw after Craw.

I used "Xfire" to record the video, I suggest you use this also.

@CandyViking The Ares I use to fight with is crafted, the one in my inventory isnt, but I didnt use it because I wanted the video to be short, so I used my modded guns.

The repeater pistol was dropped by craw a long time ago, its pretty nice, very lucky to get a high level one.

dude soloing crawmax is the easist thing to do the more poeple you have the more monsters and the stronger too. i've soloed craw in less then a min. granted i had a rilfe that was modded(not like dmg ampfires more like part replacements done in willowtree, it was like the pearl sniper but with the skullcrusers X amount of shots added too :P) i'd knock an arm or two off try and get its back and then let it get close so i could use my pearl revolver to fuck its face up and heal me :P

@1071john theres a way to glitch the claptraps on the second playthrough into giving you more sdu's, with a maximum of 72, plus you get some sdu's from the zombies dlc and claptraps robolution. all you do is turn them in and if the claptrap doesnt give you another sdu just go back to the dashboard and do it again and again and again until the little tincans give you what you want.

i'm pretty sure that bloody aries is modded. the only legitimate prefix for an aries is pearl.

I just used non-modded weapons, the left-side crevice glitch, a 61 Siren (nearly 62 thanks to the fight), a revolver, and sniper, and it was still rather difficult, considering he can acutally hit you in the crevice, and moving around to get his back to you is difficult. I agree that modded stuff takes the fun out of everything though.
