  • @MattsMacintosh What cannon camera were you using there?

  • @applemanipodmac Its an AE-1 Program.

  • Rewatching this video I think I probably over-simplified the F-number part. So, for those of you that love math, here is the formula: N= f/D (f is the focal length, and D is the diameter of the iris opening). Focal length is probably worth a whole other video, since on paper its the distance from the lens to the focal point, but there is some weird tricks that camera lenses do to expand and contract that.

  • I did a through video on aperture not too long ago. Will post it as a video response as there is much more to understanding it.

  • @DizzyDougTV Great video. Just approved the response

  • I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about cameras and DSLR's. I understood the effects of aperture prior, but I didn't quite know exactly what caused a small aperture to produce more DOF. When your diagram first came up, I paused and just looked at it for a second. Then I started saying "Ooh! OOOOOH! ooh! oh!" in exclamation from understanding what was happening.

  • @MattsMacintosh top video, certainly got a lot out of it. Now going on to the others.

  • You Should make more in depth videos on video basics and dslr cinematography.

  • Where can i get that camera, and how much would it be?

  • Great video. I love the camera basics. Even though its intended for videography its the same concept for photography.

  • Hey Matt! Just wondering, how do you change the focus point from one point to another? e.g, in your latest mac book air video you have the focus of the whole laptop, and then fade or blur it so it's only the side of the laptop. Is that done with the camera or done as an effect in after effects, final cut etc? Thanks in advance!

  • Great job

  • I'm actually using this to learn about telescopes, which is kind of funny.

  • What a brilliant and helpful video.

  • Great video.
