Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Hacks - Sonic 3 Edition (Chemical Plant Zone)

Recently roaming through my sonic collection I decided to pick up and play Sonic 2, and after so long it was worth spending an hour on. So due to the release of Sonic 2 on iPhone and for the popularity I got on my original Sonic 2 hacks its time to step into the next dimension as we play Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Sonic 3 edition).

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Sonic 3 Edition) is a hack which is made by the fans for the fans as it is the best update on the game you will ever get. Many features have been added including adding an act 1 boss on both Emerald Hill and Chemical plant zone. The game is still in development and has a cult following among hacking fans. If you like Sonic The Hedgehog 2 but felt it needed a save feature, more bosses and maybe some new music with Sonic 3 sprites then I recommend you give this a try.

Features included from Sonic 3 are:
*Title Screen has been changed to make it a bit more like Sonic 3K's.
*Knuckles is implemented, complete with all of his abilities from S&K.
*Sonic 3K data select screen is implemented.
*All item boxes from Sonic 3K are implemented.
*Sonic & Tails now use their sprites from Sonic 3K.
*Sonic can now perform his Double Jump actions from Sonic 3K.
*Tails can now fly/swim. However, he cannot pick up Sonic in "Sonic & Tails" mode.
*Super transformation is activated via pressing , , or twice, thus the Super transformation glitch at the end of levels is removed.
*There are now transitions between acts and zones.
*Emerald Hill and Chemical Plant now have mini-bosses between Act 1 and Act 2.
*Emerald Hill and Chemical Plant also have signposts at the end of act 1 that fall down from the top of the screen, and item boxes can be uncovered underground as in Sonic 3K.
*Some zones, such as Emerald Hill and Casino Night, have different Act 1 and Act 2 music.
*The 2P VS option is removed.
*For the zones with mini-bosses, S&K's mini-boss music was ported.
*The level select menu is now separate and cannot be activated
*The HUD is changed so that it now displays the current powerup(s) you have (if you are Super Sonic/Super Knuckles, this is represented by an invincibility icon).

i tried to download this game with a blank disk so i can play it but it didn't work. can you put it on a ipod or it's from a game system?

@sweetcarameltonelful uhhh...You dont have to put it on a blank disc to make it work as the rom file is used with a Sega Megadrive/Genesis emulator for either a PC or MAC, basically u just load it up on an emualtor. I dont have any idea about it working on ipod unless you hacked it to have a MegaDrive/Genesis emulator and you cant play it on a Game System because its a rom so it needs an emulator to function and u cant put it into a Mega/Genesis because they take cartridges.

i got 3 epic fails:

1: when i was in act 2, i was almost by the boss and was by one of these platforms.

then i feel in it.

2: when i was facing eggman. i falled under the floor.

3: when i beated the boss. tails got the last hit and i was at the capsule.

Hey I have just watched your video and I think you did a great job with hacking sonic 2. Is there any way how you can give me some pointers on how to make the ROM hacking process easier to understand? I ask because I acutally interested in making a sonic hack and have the ideas but don't how to implement them as I'm new to the ROM hacking process?

For Example, could you please give me some hints on how to make a boss and put it in act 1 in a regular Sonic 2 ROM?
