  • @sputnikdx you must suck at drums, then.

  • Disco beats on yellow are awful. Have you tried playing them in Guitar Hero? Are you seriously arguing that you should cross your right hand over your left to hit your snare?

    it's just a shred part.

  • @silvano751 My bad, my analysis was wrong to a degree.

But it is still two simultaneous rhythms.

But yeah this song is great and I am happy to see a fellow music theorist! :)

  • @silvano751 Its actually in both.

    7/4 and 4/4.

The melody as you can see starts out in a descending 4 note pattern (4/4) but the drums are in 7/4.

So the hand wants to sync with the ear. And the ear is picking out the 4/4 because it's used to it (like you previously mentioned).

They're called "polyrythms"(several simultaneous time signatures), or in this case a simpler term would be a "polymeter" (several simultaneous time signatures with the same tempo.)

  • @MrBubbles2K10 This song came out almost 30 years ago hmm

  • 2:07 sounds like a part of Slash's guitar battle in GH3, and 2:31 sounds like a part from Tom Morello's guitar battle in GH3.

    Hmm

  • nonono muy bueno (very good)

  • Chart looks fun as hell. Not too much of a fan with the song though.
