Freestyle with Madcatz Cymbals in Rock Band 2

Rock Band 2's kit is so much better than the first kit, especially when you add the cymbals. Even without, it's way quieter, bouncier, and the velocity sensitive pads are important when playing freestyle.

The MadCatz Cymbals themselves are kind of junky, prone to double-triggering, though taping the edge up fixed that problem. They're a bit harder and louder than the pads, but still much quieter than the Rock Band 1 kit.

With the cymbal triggers, I can actually get some entertainment out of playing along to music. Now it just needs a hi-hat pedal. And some dynamics on the samples based on how hard you hit, rather than just changing the volume. That crash cymbal gets REALLY annoying sounding exactly the same every time.

@Physorac Your mileage may vary. One pair of cymbals works pretty well, the other was terrible...creating a lip of tape absorbed the shock that caused double hits very reliably for a while, but later some would still get through.

@rocketcarmike Ah damn it. Are the cymbals that come with the RB3 pro drum kit the same as the RB2 cymbal kit? If not are the RB3 cymbals better?

Pretty basic and slow, on Rock Band 3 download some faster metal songs like Suicide Silence or Black Dahlia Murder, it's much more impressive to watch.

Mine is horrible and I have the same ones. I'll try the tape idea and then try something to hold the cymbals up themselves.
