No comments , really :-)
It is one of the most sublime and disturbing pieces of all times. Beethoven borrowed a lot from it - just listen to the place just before the first theme comes back - and then to the same place in 1st movement of Appasionata , before the Coda.
This was an opening piece in cocnert that took place in Beethoven Museum , Beethoven-Haus in Bonn , September 8th 2011. The piano , as you can see , Bosy Imperial - is a new piano I am going to record my Liszt later this year.

  • Do you rent these pianos or something?

  • @matiquielma Yes, exactly. The hall had a Steinway of unknown quality . I ahd to try this piano before I commit to recording on it. There is no better way to try it than to perform on it on stage. i am pretty happy with it.

  • Looking for the day when you play mozarts 20th concerto and a minor sonata

  • @Vesivian Mozart #20? Next May in Freiburg . Sonatas , I will do a few next few months I think. Though I msut admit it is a detour from Beethoven project , the touch has to be soo different between the two.

  • are you doing any gigs in Manchester, England? I'd love to see this live!

  • yes it true beethoven's waldstein sonata has this sense of motion and mood.

    very good dear.

  • Simply wonderful... thank you for sharing!

  • Great performance.

The point is: musical classicism hasn`t been invented in sense of terminology until- it was over ;)

So, I don`t know why this piece should be more classical, and less romantic in compairason with early Schubert sonatas, for example. Of course, Beethoven owns so much to Mozart. And Appassionata is for people that knows something his greatest sonata. Moonlight and Pathetique are great, but Apassionata has done more for me.

  • Hi Valentina:

Great interpretation - are you going the record the the accompanying (C minor?) sonata?

  • Hi, Valentina!

    You're so gracious and confident!

There's no one better than you in my humble opinion.

    Congratulations!

  • Bosy Imperial! my my my! have you thought of recording anything written for the instrument itself?

  • It's very scary at the start!
