Beijing struggles to make Olympic changes permanent

Many improvements accompanied the Beijing Olympics. Air pollution temporarily improved, as did traffic congestion. The city's Olympic facilities were the showcase of a modern China.

Now, one year after the Games, the city is struggling to make those temporary improvements more permanent.

To reduce sulphur dioxide emissions, Beijing will move a major steel plant outside of its borders. It is also revisiting traffic restrictions that could reduce congestion by up to 20 per cent during the week. As for the city's Olympic facilities, keeping those looking sparkling new will depend on new business models to keep visitor traffic coming.

Your problem is pictures don't lie. Clean up your act or leave the earth and the human race. Yes, that applies to overpopulated China and its dirty manufacturing industry, with its coal plants and endless pollution. Their pollution reaches the whole world and they will do anything for a buck including mass animal cruelty and pollution which destroys the earth. @shyaznkid dude.. are u fucking stupid. go look the history up dumbass. china was a global power and influence for 1700 years. if u look up how the last dynasty of china worked, u would find out why it isnt as big as it once was. in those 1700 years, the europeans always took months just to go to china to trade. china back then was the richest and most powerful in the world. it starting to once again take back its former glory today.

In other countries, people don't slaughter animals for food. It's okay to display how to skin and kill animals for a "survival" show and shoot deers on western tv. And that is not animal cruelty.
