@angb88 they must take down the "covers" and seat when ever I go. Was just there, and sure, there might be a seat here and there, but most are in the sun.
Been to other parks? I have been to plenty of them. 6 flags, Kings Island etc....

@TheProudWhite That's not true. Cedar Point is a very clean park. If you've ever been to any other park, you would know that. Cedar Point does have shade and there are hundreds of places to sit down. Complaining about food prices is not necessary...they allow their customers to bring food to the picnic area, and allow re-entry. The entire Millennium Force and Dragster line is covered to make people like YOU not complain about being in the sun. Get off your high horse.

Cedar Point has become home of the loud and obnoxious ghetto/trash people. There is no where to sit anymore and take a breather, a bottle of pop bought in a line will cost $5, everything is painted over with no thought of scraping off the old paint and it looks like crap, they spend millions on a new ride but cannot spend a few thousand for some shade while waiting 2 hours in a line? Cedar Point was amazing 30 years ago, now it is just fun and really expensive.

IMO what's missing at Cedar Point today is what I'd call "pacing". When I was a kid, in the 1970s, you could 'pace' your day - ride fast rides, then slow ones like the Pirate Ride or the paddlewheel boat or the Sky Ride, to give yourself (and your parents!) a break from all the frenzy. These days there's nothing BUT fast rides - most of the slower ones have been taken out. If you want to just relax for a bit, there's nowhere to go.

@Colorscheme Like everyone has already said, there was a magic that CP had back in the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately, the focus on records (highest, fastest, steepest, etc) has seem to diminished that magic slightly. It is still fun, but just not the same. I remember so many times the night before going to CP, I couldn't sleep!

I love your vidéo.
If you want a old film in Cedar Point you can search "Cedar Point 1978" in you tube.
Pretty neat home movie footage. I'm surprised they allowed someone to take their camera on the ride, unless it was small enough you could hide it.

@Trance88 It wasn't a really small camera, but I was able to hide it good enough to pass inspection! :)

Wow. Thank you for posting this. I would have been four in '76 but still remember going to the Point every year. I love the park today, but there was a wonderful feeling there in the '70s that's gone now.

I know what you mean. It was a lot different back then. I remember being SOOO excited waiting for the season to start. I'm glad they still have many of the old rides.

@CoasterBob62 It was a lot different then. I was in middle school when The Corkscrew debuted and remember those days well. The park as a whole had a character to it that seems to be missing today. The emphasis now is to build bigger and better coasters. While I enjoy riding them I also enjoyed the other elements of the park that made it fun for the family. I smiled to see an 'old school' pinball machine. The arcade was a fun part of the park to me then and I loved those analog pinball machines.

@nelson44092 Some of that charm is gone...maybe it's because we're older...I don't know. I love that I can still play those old pinball machines and skeeball and I can still ride Cedar Downs and the CP & LE RR. But I also thoroughly enjoy Millennium Force and Dragster. Hopefully they're maintain a nice balance between old and new.
