Easy company the best? There are 26 other P.I. companies of 101st who would argue against that. No doubt the 82nd would have something to say too. Also, CCB of 10th Armoured was on its own in Bastogne defending against 8 Germans divisions before the 101st even got off their asses and in to their trucks and were there right through the siege. Even Gen. McAuliffe agreed that the 10th had never recieved fully the credit it desreved for its part at Bastogne. Reading teaches you way more than movies!

This shows just how superior the American fighting man is. The 101st is the same as EasyCompanyAirborne, the heroes of Bastogne.

Bastogne is when Hell froze over. Those men went through it, watching their very best buddies die, holding on to very little while fighting Hitler's last hope. The Ardennes offensive was not a desperate measure on Hitler's part - it was carefully planned for months with his best troops under his best general. A couple of my uncles were there. Thank you for posting this.

This video is probably one of the best on the subject. Having been there, I know. I wish he had mentioned how damned cold we were, but once the hot lead starts to fly, you don't think too much about that.
