A video showing how inhumane chaining your dog up is. I pulled a lot of information and pictures from www.dogsdeservebetter.com and www.unchainyourdog.org

I give both organizations TONS of credit for the wonderful work that they do educating people.

P.S. I accidentally left a picture of a sled dog in this video. I did not mean to do so. I apologize.

  • In addition to walks my malinois is allowed to get extra activity each day on a trolley system that allows for 1500 sq feet of play space. If done correctiy this is a safe and humane way to give your pet the extra activity she needs to stay active and healthy. Dogs are pack animals and need contact with other dogs as well as their owners. My pet is allowed inside at night but keeping a pet locked up inside the home day after day while the owner is away is also a form of pet abuse.

  • Where as that might work for your dog, it doesn't work for all dogs. I do not believe keeping a pet inside during the day is wrong. There are too many cruel heartless idiots in the world that will randomly hurt a dog that is outside like that.

This video was not directed at people like you.. so no need to get defensive. It was aimed at the people who get a dog, chain it and pretty much forget about it. If you read the poem accompanying the video you would have gotten that

  • if some dogs are not kept than what will they do run the roads get run over cause accidents bite kids plus some dog are for hunting so if you believe that dogs should run free than nobody should own one

  • it all boils down to irresponsible breeding. a dog can be a house dog and let putside SUPERVISED. there is no excuse for chaining and forgettinjg about your dog. One of my dogs grew up on a chain. She is an excellent house dog

  • So sue me. I have a dog that is chained. Actually, he's not really mine. He was abandoned near my house & I couldn't just let him starve. I have tried to find him a home & nobody wants him. I live on a heavily trafficked road that people speed down. Do I just let him wander, only to get hit by a car? NO-I put him on a chain. Sorry for seeing to his safety! And no, he is NOT coimng in the house! My son is terrified of him & my daughter is allergic. So tell me, what else do I do?

  • Yes, anyone who chains a dog is pure evil. All Christians are child molesters. If you speak Spanish, you are obviously poor. People who like Airplane! cannot enjoy The Godfather. Only idiots can't afford food. Heavy metal fans are going to Hell. If you're a virgin, you must be a nerd. If you're a nerd, you must be a virgin. Gay people don't believe in God. Any black person who can afford to live in a house is a drug dealer blah blah blah...

  • I am in tears right now. I could never tether my dog. Never have never will. That's what fences are for. So they can run and get exercise. When I am not outside, my pets are not outside. If you don't want an animal that sheds don't have them. If you find a stray there are rescues in every state that will take dogs and cats. Go on the internet and contact one. There is no excuse for tethering.

  • @PeaceLoveSledDogs

Very true, my dog is chained while we are not out with him, and he runs with us every morning, gets a walk every afternoon, is fed every day and always has fresh water. We took him to the vet for his check up and the vet said he was one of the healthiest and happiest dogs she had met.

  • @alaskansnowangel Yes, yay for us dog mushers!!!

  • Can I make a suggestion? Its not the chain thats the problem here. Its irresponsible owners. Its not the chains fault just because the dog is hooked to it.

I don't think we should paint with such a broad brush and say that all people who chain their dogs are cruel. It can be done humanely and safely. In fact in some cases chaining can be safer and more logical than not chaining.

  • my aunt chains her dog outside. He is 8 years old and never been in the house just on the chain in the same spot its so bad that his spot is 6inchs deep into the ground i feel bad for him

  • not just dogs but almost every animal is abused in this world but why ? why so much hatred in this world ? nobody understands their pain ....and nobody will do anything this is the world we are living in..

  • @gamedog2009

Well with crating you're only supposed to do it for no more than 4 hours, people don't always abide by that of course.

My question is this. If someone took you out in your yard and chained you to the ground and you had to rely on them for food, water, shelter, entertainment, protection from those without morals as well as wildlife such as fire ants, poisonous snakes, and so on. How long do you think you'd last?

  • Dogs are mans best friend! If a person does not take care of their animals why should we expect them to be productive members of society. To love an animal and feel love from them is a euphoric experience. Thank you for sharing these photos and making the issue of animal care real for so many. To see these images really makes a person think.
