This amazing event was produced by The Manhattan Center's DeVasha Lloyd and hosted by Emmy-Award winning actress, Lynn Whitfield. Manhattan's own Opera Noire of New York honored the achievements of African American Singers in an extraordinary concert of Opera scenes from classical and romantic composers ranging from Mozart to Gershwin. Twenty of the finest singers were showcased before an enthusiastic audience. In addition, to actress Lynn Whitfield, Metropolitan Opera Star Angela Brown, paid homage to some of the African American artists who directly and indirectly influenced its members careers. The Honoree of the evening was Soprano Margaret Tynes. The all African American orchestra was assembled by pianist Damien Sneed and conducted by world renowned, Maestro Willie Anthony Waters. The event was directed by New York's Beth Greenberg and filled with an audience of enthusiastic opera lovers. On behalf of General Director, Robert Anthony Mack and Artistic Director, Kenneth Overton...THANK YOU! To pianist and founder of Operamission, Jennifer Peterson, thanks for the artist preparation. And of course...ONNY members, thanks for your help in presenting this gala affair. And of course to all our advisors and supporters...we Love you and thank you very much for your continued support.
