Our cat Cory got in a fight, and a couple days later he started to develop an abscess that required surgery, and then he had to live imprisoned inside the house--no going outside!--and had to endure a demeaning torture device. (The cone is for his own good of course, so he wouldn't chew out his stitches.)

He was miserable. So Debbie was kind enough to sacrifice her dessert and give him a treat....

  • EXCUSE ME!!!

MY CAT GOT A CONE TODAY!!

    CAN YOU PLS HELP ME??

CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY TIPS ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HER??

  • @mynamemaru There is not much to do, just watch and make sure they do not take the cone off. The cat will try to remove the cone. They don't like it! Make sure the food bowl and water bowl are big enough so they do not have trouble to get food and water when they need. (You know, so the cone does not block them when they try to get food or water.) Also give the cat plenty of love and attention, they will be sad in the cone for a while. Also ask your veterinarian what else you should do.

  • Have you considered having him neutered? Maybe that would keep him out of cat fights?

  • Thanks for the good advice Sharimax. Actually Cory has always been neutered. (You know, ever since he was old enough to have it done anyway.)

Part of the problem I guess was that we moved into this house in a neighborhood where there were a couple big male cats who've been here forever, and then here comes the new cat on the block... After his third injury/surgery now we keep him inside at night and there have been no problems ever since. Thanks again!

  • Well I didn't die so I guess any germs he had must not have been that bad.

  • You know they also lick their dongs etc.

  • Yea I think I did... You know other than the occasional rat, bird, and lizard that goes in that cat's mouth, and the fact that they lick themselves everywhere, cats are very clean animals. What a waste of good ice cream that would be, otherwise!

  • Did you eat the cone after he licked it?

  • Thanks! Yea, it's growing back now, but just a few weeks after the cone came off he did it again, had to have surgery again, cone, etc. Finally seems to be steering clear of "Hercules" the neighborhood big fat bully cat.

  • I hope his fur grows back!! then he will be more cuter!!! Cute cat :)
