A video featuring a similar joke from two different comics, all to help answer what is joke stealing and what is parallel thinking?

Thanks to Mike Bridenstine, who pointed out this joke to me. Mike's a very funny comedian and you can see some of his work at http://www.blerds.com

  • Here's a newsflash - Every comedian steals jokes.. just like musicians steal lyrics, and melodies, get over it...

  • Is it just me or does Dennis Leary come off as a Bourbon street fag... he acts so gay ...

  • @spetznas101 I have actually looked and there is NO PLAGIARISM!

Please, educate yourself on what plagiarism actually is.

  • @Treblaine

then maybe you should have read what I said about this video ""Now this time in seems they just used the same premise which might just be coincidence"".

as for your question, Easy answer... They said it was.

Denis Leary never gave Bill hicks credit for his jokes, Denis Leary never gave tribute to Bill Hicks. If you actually watch Bill hicks material and Then Denis Leary, you will see Leary stole jokes and even copied the persona to an extent.

  • @spetznas101 So how is Indiana Jones a tribute and anything else a rip-off?

"There is a difference between "Building on something" and "Copy/Pasting"."

Exactly, and this video is QUITE CLEARLY not a copy/paste, they are NOT word-for-word the same, they build on the a concept that no one can own.

  • @spetznas101 Yeah, Alien Ant Farm did that!

  • @Treblaine

"There is nothing wrong with reusing material. If jokes were not retold then jokes would die."

    - Retold many years later not The same fuckin Year.

Its like if someone went out and remixed "Smooth Criminal" By MJ, made millions of dollars without crediting MJ or paying royalties.

  • @Treblaine

    WRONG!

Indian Jones was Influenced by Adventure serials and was a Tribute to them.

Kill Bill was also influenced by Kung-fu Movies and I havent watched one similiar to Kill Bill.

There is a difference between "Building on something" and "Copy/Pasting".

Now this time in seems they just used the same premise which might just be coincidence.

Genis Leary is no talent Hack who stole Bill Hicks persona and Jokes, some of which "Word for word".

  • @PoisonedLipgloss There is nothing wrong with reusing material. If jokes were not retold then jokes would die.

What is Indiana Jones if not "stealing" from 1930's adventure serials? What is Kill Bill if not "stealing" from Kung-Fu/Exploitation films?

Get a clue. The entire entertainment industry uses and builds on the work of their predecessors it is only people OUTSIDE the industry who have never made anything in their life, who assume it "All has to come completely from scratch".
