The original Batwoman is primarily associated with the Silver Age of comic books. In the aftermath of the attacks on comics in the early 1950s, the Batwoman was the first of several characters that would make up the 'Batman Family'. Since the family formula had proven very successful for the Superman franchise, editor Jack Schiff suggested to Kane that he create one for The Batman. A female was chosen first, to offset the charges made by Fredric Wertham that Batman and the original Robin, Dick Grayson, were gay.[1] Kathy Kane and alter ego Batwoman first appeared in Detective Comics #233 (July 1956).[2] In the character's debut issue, Batwoman is introduced as a female rival to the crime fighting prowess of Batman.

  • Some questions. The sound keeps starting and stopping. Can anything be done about that situation? I'm viewing it using a cable modem connection, so its kind of strange having a video's sound be so jumpy. And who is the woman that is singing in the video? Is the song name "Sweet Dreams"?

  • @GTidmore1 i think its ur computer bro cuz its doesnt stop on my

  • Looks like batman beyond relation

  • I knew Batwoman existed, myself being from the early 80's, I only heared little of Batman and any other comic book heroes. Growing up where I did, there wasn't much of that, not much for decent comic book stores. I had friends later that were huge fans of both Mavel and DC, basements littered with (hate to say it) ratty worthless comics while the decent ones were in steel cabinets. I recently saw a great Batman family pic on Deviant Art that sparked a search. Nice vid, thanks for uploading it.

  • Great video. Great DC character.

  • Love the intro of Batwoman but there are SUCH continuity issues. Example, in 52 when Kate & Renee see each other, Renee made it CLEAR that Kate's in the closet, the one who ended it, & couldn't throw a punch b4. In Batwoman: Elegy, Kate's out, even discharged from the Army because of it & makes it seem like Renee walked away, & discharged BEFORE meeting Renee (she'd have known how to fight). Though the break up can be debated the out & fight status is pretty clear. Sorry, fangirl moment. LOVE!!!

  • now all she needs is a gay sidekick (a boy woulkd be great. could be her assistant) xD

(yes i haven't read the comic yet so i have no idea what i'm talking about..X_X)

  • nice video

  • very smooth vid , good song for her too
