But the only thing that makes an Atheist an Atheist is the fact that they don't believe in a deity. They can still have a system of beliefs and traditions so long as they do not go against that one characteristic. A "non-religion" or whatever would be a philosophy without a deity, without traditions, and without an explanation for the universe; that's what religions do. It might not be an organized religion, but Atheism sure sounds like a non-theistic religion to me.

it's not a religion but because so many religions exists and they are all in opposition for what atheism stands for it must keep the legal definition of religion so we don't get discriminated for our lack of belief and use of reason.
