Why is it so hard to understand some of the underlying causes of problem? If illegal fishing and dumping of toxic waste, the uranium and radioactive, heavy metals like cadmium and mercury, also industrial waste and hospital wastes, chemical waste that are the contributing factors to the problem of Somali piracy, then why not go after the criminals that are taking advantage of the their unfortunate situations in the past two decades instead of addressing what the pirates are doing? Where is Justice for the Somali people? What would you do if this were your family where there is no government to protect you? I don't agree with what some of the pirates are doing, but what other alternative do they have. They complained to the UN many times but nothing was done about it!

The Word ignores all the other illegal fishing that is taking places in Somali Ocean since 1990, and dumping all the nuclear toxic waste in the Somali Ocean, not to mention the illegal fishing. Somalia has no government to protect them, so they do what it takes to feed their family... I'm not promoting any piracy act but there are others commuting worst crimes here.

@shanuthottathil Why can’t people understand that they are not pirates, they are simply Somali fishermen and they are an ordinary citizens call themselves the Volunteer Coast Guard of Somalia, turned to what so called “pirates” in reaction to armed foreign marines. Perhaps they turned to be a pirates now but who’s fault is that? The U.N only focuses about the piracy problem in Somalia and ignores the rest, I’m sure we both know why!!!
