  • really nothing to fight about.. there are horrible bands and promoters..but the worst is the venues.. they control "venue rental", advertising for there venue and who promotes there.. if anything the bands and promoters should be mad at the venues... remember.. the club has more to lose than anyone at a show...

  • lol at all of you! We love everything about the scene.. the good the bad.. all of it!

  • Bands should get paid for their work. Promoters don't do shit. Fuck it.

  • PROMOTErs...the job is in the title.

  • This is brilliant. I've been playing in bands for years but I know exactly where this is coming from. Too many dickhead bands who think they are The Beatles, and too many dickhead promoters who feel entitled to push people around. Welcome to rock and roll, people.

How does the club have anything to lose? If you pay a rental and no-one shows up, they make just the rental price. If a ton of people show up, they make an average of $15-25 per person in bar and food sales.

That whole scenario is messed, they should be PAYING the bands a set amount to play, they should promote their own clubs and hiring bands who keep people in their seats, not expecting bands to promote. They are entertainment. You need people in your club, PROMOTE IT!

My argument is there IS no local scene, not like there was 25 years ago (probably before both you and I were born)

LOTS of people come to see one band, IE me. They stay for 3 or 4 hours, because that's a REAL gig, not this 30 minute 5 bands on a bill that make $15 each garbage.

Bands don't need to write 3 or 4 albums before their first show, I wasn't saying that at all, what I'm saying is learn to put on a SHOW 35-40 songs, a mix of covers and originals is best.

  • @DavidCavanFraser ._. If every band wrote 3 or 4 albums before they played their first show, there would be no local scene. Also, nobody wants to go see 1 band. That's like 40 minutes out of their night instead of 2 or 3 hours with multiple bands.

  • seriously...

there are other voices you can use,

it might make the story easier to follow

or at least a little more enjoyable

since you can hardly tell who is saying what to who

  • Most of you stupid ass, untalented, can't tune your guitars, don't know scales, sing out of register or way off key, spend 20 minutes warming up because " i gotta get my sound, man" original bands suck so bad these days, your dumbass girlfriends don't even show up at your gigs. THAT'S the problem. All the gear, and no clue.
