The wealthy have had the best run of taxes and legislation in the last hundred years (remember when the tax rate was 90% and they still made millions?) and now our economy is in the toilet.

This is like people complaining about Bush when he had a Republican congress to back him or Obama and vice versa.

How much more leeway do you need before your plan starts working? We tried it the corporation's way, and only they prospered. Time for a switch.

I did make one mistake: We went from an average CEO payscale of 30x median salary, to 200x. Not from hundreds to thousands.

BUT

Since 1970, both the minimum wage and the average salary has increased by 350%

MEANWHILE

The Consumer Price Index has gone up 500%, college tuition has gone up by 1000%, and the price of a home has gone up 900%.

Today you get less for your dollar and you earn less dollars (comparatively). Oh and we pay a portion of those in taxes, while many companies don't.

I just say that they can make those millions AFTER the economy straightens out and everybody with a full time job can pay all their bills.

I'd think it's a lot easier to make a day's protest than to post up on a semi-permanent basis.

Not that I'm totally disagreeing with you. There's a lot wrong with OWS.

There are many honest to god socialists. Even more spoiled, naive and/or just plain selfish kids in the group.

But I think the overall message - that the rich are actively abusing our government and economy while we suffer more each year - is one we need to support.

Sorry, but I've been to displays of protest on BOTH sides of the isle. The right is ALWAYS respectful of property. Always respectful of others who may be present (women, children). They do not demand "free stuff," from surrounding business ... Whereas the left (on whole) do NONE of these things. The area around the Reflecting pool in DC looked like a demilitarized zone last time I covered a Liberal protest there. To be fair, there are A-holes on BOTH sides, it's just that the left has FAR MORE.

I'm sure similar things happened during the Civil Rights Movement, and they were just never publicized. Assholes exist everywhere.
