You can get stuck in the loops in Sonic 2 SMS by not going fast enough, did that a few times on the one of the Green Hill levels.

Whoa, sonic is the one acting upside down really! And This only happened to me once...in fact it was on the first zone as I remember...

don't mind the idiot. it's a glitch.
I suppose you know this already but what seems to be happening is that your sprite is rotating the "correct" way, but not for the direction you're headed in. Apparently they don't check which direction you're coming from when doing a loop, only which one you're facing. So you're tumbling like an idiot in the loop instead of running around it.
