youre saying it's possible to use rammed earth instead of concrete for a foundation slab and footings? thanks.

how thick of a wall can plywood handle?

Hi, can concrete forms be used such as Western Forms? I think i read somewhere a film of a certain substance is sprayed on the inside to prevent the concrete from sticking; and as long as the form is smooth, i don't see why these forms wouldn't create elegant walls such as used with wood ones.

cheap plywood forms are just as reusable.

I quite like your product, is it possible to provide me with more info on prices and availability. i am interested to bring it to Sudan

Hello, would you consider doing a dvd series on how to make such mini forms for compressed earth making and include indepth details on say making a small one room house with them and reusing them on another house. I would be interested in buying it if you made one. I have looked into earthbag and CEB blocks and rammed earth may be the best if there is a portable small method like this for forms one can carry easily to developing countries and be able to reuse them for multiple houses there.
do you have any idea how much carbon fibre costs!? Also it's not going to last long if you're tamping earth with a steel tamper scratching the carbon fibre.

Just an option, and actually Carbon fiber does stand up to impacts very well. Also who said I would be using a steel sided tamper? Regardless it was just said as an option. Take care.

thank you for answering me, I wonder if you have a manual or a link where it´s explained the whole process, I don´t know wich option is better for me, if this or papercrete, or a cob house,
saacbe 2 years ago
My favorite is rammed earth because of its strength and rapid construction. Cob is next but it is very labor intensive and slow to erect. Cob bricks I like too. But I am not too into papercrete because I think it uses too much concrete and paper should be recycled. I like to think, If everyone chose a technique would it's resources be sustainable? I don't have one specifically but there are many websites out there for rammed earth. My Stats and Data above have me linked to some. Best of luck.

do these houses need foundations?
saacbe 2 years ago
They can depending on the situation or not depending on resources. Rammed earth can be extremely strong and placed down as a slab can also act as a foundation. Thanks for the comment.
