  • Both of those are Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff compositions (with a 3rd writer sharing credit on DLMTW).

As a guitarists, do you see major similarities in them at the writing/playing level?

  • I must have because I had no idea they were both Gamble & Huff songs!! Pretty crazy... Thanks for the note, I'll update the info on this video.

  • this is wonderful!

  • Thanks, I thought nobody was watching this video... I play these tunes often on my gigs.

  • Tasty stuff! I can see you've spent a lot of nights playing solo. I hope your 'tube exposure brings you the wider audience you deserve! I listen to about ten of your vids tonight. Really enjoyable!

  • Delightful - you bring your magic touch to these tunes (never my favourites, but lovely in your hands)

  • that's so beautiful, great guitar playing.

  • Very Nice Indeed, this is my favor style on guitar.

  • Thanks, very informative and exactly the kind of musical info/education I'm interested in as far as expanding my repertoire goes. I probably know dozens of their songs already, just not knowing it's them.

  • Pt 2.

Though this songwriting/production creativity occurred 31-33 years ago for both tunes, I wouldnt be surprised to belatedly discover the MFSB musicians played bigger roles in composing those two songs despite what the licensing may indicate.

  • Pt 1

    Wow...karmic.

In addition to that, explore the musical pedigree of both tunes deeper...for example, Thelma Houston's Dont Leave Me This Way was a cover; Gamble & Huff's stable of artisists included Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and they gave them 1st crack at it. Now....G&H sometimes 'composed' dynamically with the musicians comprising MFSB, their house band for their label, Philly Int'l Records.

  • well done, i like it very much

  • Fantastic playing, love it!

    Best regards, Frank!
