Good to see another vid and I enjoyed the review. Agree that the volume steps were steep, especially at the low end. The DX/local switch is useful if using a wire antenna so good to have.
I tested one and it's good value for what it's intended to do. My own use was to receive SSB signals with an external BFO. I compared it with a 1970s radio (ie AM/FM/SW1/SW2 with coarse tuning). This one has better tuning and dial so if RF performance was similar I'd have been happy.

Part 2. Compared to the older set it had higher internal noise and much inferior weak and strong signal performance. Weaker signals weren't so good on this one (probably due to synthesiser hash). The BFO injection level was very critical and often swamped the receiver. So it was very difficult to hear a group of SSB signals. Whereas on the older set it was less of a problem. I wanted to build something using this but it wasn't up to scratch, so took it back. But for 99% of people it's fine.

@vk3ye Thanks for the comments and the info. I'm planning a cruise later this year and I will be taking it with me, hopefully I can get news from home and some interesting reception. I have a DX 440 from years ago with a whole 10 memories (cost me about $380 from memory). This isn't in the same class reception wise of course, but 200 memories would have blown my mind 20 years ago.
