In this segment Steinitz faces the fearsome Emanuel Lasker in a world championship match in New York, Philadelphia, and Montreal 1894. Lasker becomes the second official Chess Champion in history. Steinitz scores the last tournament victory of his life in New York 1894 and is awarded first brilliancy prize for his win against Bardeleben at Hastings 1895. Steinitz finishes second behind Lasker in the St. Petersburg tournament ahead of Pillsbury and Chigorin, and arranges a world title rematch with Lasker.
